About Therapist
I am a highly skilled, compassionate, empathetic and solution-focussed Counsellor/Therapist with over 28 years’ experience. I have a demonstrated track record of success working with diverse client populations in one to one and group settings. My relevant qualifications include my BSc (Hons) Degree in Therapeutic Interventions along with my International qualifications as a counsellor and supervisor, (ICADC and ICCS). My registration is with BACP.
My background has included counselling clients with addictions to drugs, alcohol, gambling, sex, to name a few, emotional crisis and childhood/adult trauma. This also includes dysfunctional family issues, sexual harassment, gender identity, anxiety, stress, depression, self-harm and more.
My therapeutic approach is integrative and holistic. I provide a safe listening mental space for my clients where they can explore their needs and concerns. Therapy is flexible and tailored to the individual, guided by your strengths and needs, whilst respecting your core values.
If you are looking to regain control over your issues, searching for meaning amongst your suffering, or aiming to be relieved of patterns of distress that keep happening to you, then I believe I can help you with that. We all deserve to be happy and free from unnecessary psychological issues, and to have good relationships with others & ourselves. We all have certain goals we want to attain that seem beyond our reach. These are just a few of the common needs we all have and I believe I can help you unpack and formulate plans to achieve these individual ideals.
* identify specific problems or issues in your daily life
I will help you:
* to become aware of unproductive thought patterns and how they can impact your life
I will help you:
* identify negative thinking and reshape it in a way that changes how you feel
I will help you:
* learn new behaviors and put them into practice

Domestic Violence
Domestic Violence can involve physical, emotional and/or sexual abuse. This abuse can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender or social background. I will help you take a deeper look into domestic abuse, including how to recognise the signs, deciding when and how to leave and how to move on. We will look at some of the barriers preventing you from leaving – shame, guilt, fear, denial and fear of being alone. These are all common factors that, once understood, help you realise you don’t have to live like that anymore. Same sex and domestic abuse amongst men can often go under the radar. The situation is difficult to talk about for both men and women, however men may face the additional stigma of not wanting to appear as a ‘victim’ or worry that no one will believe them. Here you will find a safe space to explore and talk through these feelings and break free from the cycle of abuse.
Individual Session
42 Completed SessionsI provide a safe space where you can explore issues and emotions that may be causing you concern. I draw on a number of evidence-based counselling models, tailored to meet the unique needs and circumstances of each individual client. My aim is to help you develop a genuine understanding of your circumstances with options of how to move forward.
Anxiety / Depression / Stress
2 Completed SessionsCognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is highly effective at treating these disorders. Anxiety, depression and stress are real issues that effect a large percentage of society. Talk Therapy is the first step in coming to understand these negative / anxious thoughts and patterns. I can help you overcome these feeling / thoughts with mindfulness and self-talk techniques.
Addiction
1 Completed SessionsDrugs, Alcohol, Gambling, Sex, Eating, Shopping, Working. Addictive substances or behaviours change the way we feel. All of the above may start of as pleasurable, but for some, they cross that ‘invisible line’ where addiction becomes an attempt to cope rather then a search for pleasure. I can provide unconditional support and guidance to help you feel empowered to make changes in your life, to feel at ease within yourself and achieve deep personal growth and positive change.
Bereavement
Loss of a loved one, loss of a pet. Loss is loss whether that be someone close to you or a beloved pet, they all have the same impact and all need to be worked through in the grief cycle. We do this one step at a time, so you do not feel overwhelmed by your emotions. I will be there to support you and guide through this process.
LGBTQ+ Issues
The stigma and discrimination LGBTQ individuals often face can be a serious impediment to their well-being. This stigma and discrimination can be on a regular basis, from society, family members, peers, co-workers, and even classmate and often contributes to the higher rates of depression, anxiety, and other mental health struggles seen amongst the LGBTQ+ community. Along with being afraid of judgement and discrimination, some individuals struggle with coming to terms with their gender or sexual identity and may/or experience discomfort with their own body along with internalised homophobia or transphobia. Affirmative therapy will help you deal with this stigma and discrimination in addition to providing you with support and acceptance in the every day challenges you may face.
Couple Counselling
7 Completed SessionsCouple counselling could be what your relationship needs in order to heal old wounds and start afresh. Some of the issues I can help you work through Challenges in communication with each other Difficulties dealing with money, career, parenting etc Issues with sexuality, monogamy Your relationship and hit a roadblock and you want to get back on track I can help you both interact, explore and address inter-personal concerns including intimacy, communication, conflict etc. My focus is on the relationship between you both, remaining neutral to both parties and the status of the relationship itself. Maintaining the possibility of a positive experience whatever the outcome may be.
